I could stand to hear a few hours about vector images,
format(s) and editors if anyone here feels like
talking.
Specifically tracing raster images and manipulating
them. Also freehand drawing with vectors.

Re: [BLUG] OCT Meeting Topic
you can, you should submit those to Inkscape's website as samples.

presentation on it. Autotrace is built into inkscape and is pretty easy
to use, provided that your starting material isnt too messy. Scribus,
qcad, and gimp also have their uses.
Here's something I just drew today in inkscape:
http://fenn.dyndns.org/pub/sketches/emc-splash/mazak.png
here's another one i really like:
http://fenn.dyndns.org/pub/sketches/emc-splash/fanuc-illust.png
I also need to mess around with vector formats for making printed circuit
boards. HPGL, RS-274X, postscript, dxf.
Postscript is fun to play with too, for highly algorithmic stuff. i.e:
http://fenn.dyndns.org/pub/irc/encoder-panelized.ps
I would probably need someone else to provide a computer for the
presentation, as my laptop is too slow for this stuff.
