100M fiber to what?  The local ISP's lan where they have a DS3 (or whatever Japan has) connected to a peering point?  You can have a 1000M network in your local lan but that doesn't mean you got 1000M link to the backbone.

It reminds me of buying car speakers.  A true 250W amp in your car might leave you def.. Your not getting what you pay for.

Depends on whether i get a projector or not. I planning on looking at 2
commercial routing solutions, ImageStream routers and Mikrotik software
and hardware.

I'm curious, are you actually getting the advertised speeds? What
would be a good way to test? I would only consider it to be what they
are advertising if you could download from a single site at a rate of
about 5 to 6 megabytes per second (for the 50Mbit connection).

Probably downloading an iso from one of the large mirrors would do the
trick.

yep your right some of the speeds isp's offer are ridicuolos but on the other hand which is easier to cover the entire us with high speed or the entirety of japan.
