Re: [BLUG] Sub domains in Apache

So, the key here is that you cannot do an apachectl graceful?

You might be able to do this with mod_rewrite rules, but you'll need DNS
entries for each of your subdomains.

[BLUG] Sub domains in Apache

Hey blug'ers, I have a question for you. Does anyone have experience setting up sub-domains in Apache? Here's what I would like to happen.

Let's say with my domain wsams.org I would like to have say 3 sub-domains -- say linux, gentoo and mac.

I would like to have the setup where my home directory contains as many directories as I want, but as soon as I put the directory html inside one of those directories, that original directory becames a sub-domain.

The idea sould be to have

/home/wsams/linux/html   --->   http://linux.wsams.org
/home/wsams/gentoo/html   --->   http://gentoo.wsams.org
/home/wsams/mac/html   --->   http://mac.wsams.org

Also, the server should not have to be restarted. So say I create the directory

/home/wsams/foobar/html

I would have the sub-domain http://foobar.wsams.org

Does anyone know how to set this up easily. I just can't figure out what to search for.

Re: [BLUG] Nvidia driver and Twinview mode for dualhead displays

Sweet... I am using 2 NVidia cards with 4 monitors. Both pairs are
twinview and then I joined them with xinerama, no 3d this way though.
That 9 screen display must give sun burn :)

Re: [BLUG] Nvidia driver and Twinview mode for dualhead displays

Hey Mark, I'm not sure of the lingo exactly, but I have the Nvidia drivers running on my 7600gt and I can have dual monitors or video out to my tv. Is that in the same ball park?

You have a quad display on one system? Wow! How does that work
exactly?

BTW, since we're comparing, I actually have a 9 screen synergy setup
at work. I can't take a picture of it due to policies at Cook, but its
pretty sweet. 9 screens across 5 computers. Linux, Mac and Windows.

Yes, I have a few configs. Sax2 in Suse will detect it automagicaly
and install twinview. I also have a quad display.

Re: [BLUG] Nvidia driver and Twinview mode for dualhead displays

Well I was wondering if I could take a look at the options some people
are setting in their screen section of the xorg.conf file.

I just asked a question on the Ubuntu forums, but I solved my own
problem by being dedicated to finding a solution.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=437463

I've been looking for a solution to that problem for so long. In the
process I found out that I also had my TwinViewOrientation setting set
backwards and my monitors should have been switched. Because one
monitor was always the dominant one. There might be another way to fix
that too.

I'd still be interested in seeing your screen sections.

Not at the moment, but I probably still have the xorg.conf laying around on my workstation at $work...
