If you really want to get rid of it, I am in need of an old, half-worky
laser printer for making circuit boards. I can substitute a different
half-working laser printer if necessary.

Sure, you're donating the equipment for the demo, right? =)

There's an HP LaserJet 4 at work and I'm waiting on it to croak:

Re: [BLUG] has anybody seen this error before?

There are some directives in the default mod_ssl.conf file on most
installations of Apache that talk about IE not being able to close SSL
connections right or something. Might be that.

I consider it more than "kind of" Linux-related. It does run Linux after
all.

Were it not for that fact that I need to get rid of a number of machines
myself, I'd take you up on the offer. I need a basement "room of
computers" before I do too much more collecting.

With regards to getting free, legal access to Solaris. It is actually a
relatively painless thing to get at this point. You need to register
with their site, as you need to do for any of their downloads. (It will
be a DVD iso image, so plan accordingly.)

Of course, if you just want to play around with Solaris to compare it to
Linux, you can do that with OpenSolaris on x86 hardware. (They will even
send you an "OpenSolaris Starter Kit" for free at your request. It is
x86-only. It comes on two DVDs.)

Solaris is really something completely different when compared to Linux.
It is sort of like looking at an organism that developed in near total
isolation, while having a common ancestor to something you are familiar
with. (Though, I'm sure some of the OpenSolaris distributions wouldn't
be like that at all.)

Cheers,
Steven Black

Re: [BLUG] has anybody seen this error before?

Thanks Dave,

I kind of suspected that it was nothing to be terribly worried about
since I'm not experiencing any noticeable SSL problems and am running a
recent OpenSSL set of libraries, but its persistence over a long period
of time finally motivated the question :)

[ Note: You have received this email because you have registered
for a past Ohio LinuxFest. To avoid unwanted email, we have
setup an email newsletter to send announcements about the Ohio
LinuxFest. You can subscribe when you register for the
Ohio LinuxFest 2007 at http://www.ohiolinux.org/attend.html, and
you can change your subscription status at http://www.ohiolinux.org.

Even if you are not planning to attend this year's event, you can
subscribe to hear about future events at http://www.ohiolinux.org.
Please subscribe to receive announcements and updates
in the future. -- Thanks ]

---------------------------------------------------------------

We are pleased to announce the fifth annual Ohio LinuxFest
will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the Greater Columbus
Convention Center in downtown Columbus. The Ohio LinuxFest is the
largest conference and expo for Free and Open Source software
professionals and enthusiasts in the mid-west. Everyone with
an interest in Linux, Free Software, and Open Source Software
is welcome.

This year's conference will be returning to the same location
as last year, with some additional conference rooms closer to
the main venue. In addition, the organizers have been able
to secure a block rate for the Drury Inn, an *excellent*
hotel adjacent to the convention center (Please book early!
http://www.ohiolinux.org/hotel.html)

The Ohio LinuxFest 2007 is free for all to attend, but you do
need to register ahead of time. Once again, we are offering an
All Conference Pass option for $65.00 to help offset the cost of
running the conference. The All Conference Pass includes lunch
on the day of the conference, drink tickets for the party after
the conference, vendor swag, access to the conference suite at
the Drury Inn, and a limited-edition Ohio LinuxFest t-shirt. (The
All Conference Pass is not refundable, but can be transferred.)

If you're planning to attend, please register at:

http://www.ohiolinux.org/attend.html

and be sure to do so early, as seating is limited.

There's still time to sign up as a speaker or sponsor for
this year's Ohio LinuxFest as well. We encourage members
of the Linux and open source community to submit a speaker
application right away. We are looking for presentations from
open source developers, commercial organizations using Linux
and open source, and end users who have valuable experience
to share with other attendees. More information is available
at http://www.ohiolinux.org/speak.html.

Sponsorship packages are still available as well. Organizations
can choose from the Platinum, Gold, and Silver packages; Each
package includes space on the exhibition floor, space in the
Ohio LinuxFest Program, not to mention the opportunity to help
bolster the FOSS community in the mid-west while spreading the
word about your organization. And we are adding more opportunities
to sponsor the event to get your name out (stay tuned for updates).
Please register your interest at http://www.ohiolinux.org/sponsor.html.

We also have a limited number of .Org sponsorship packages
available, but they're going fast. Be sure to sign up right
away if you'd like to represent your FOSS project at the Ohio
LinuxFest. Please apply at http://www.ohiolinux.org/sponsor.html
(and select non-profit)

The Ohio LinuxFest is a non-profit event run by members
from various LUGs in Ohio (and PA). If you would like
to help at the event, please submit your information at
http://www.ohiolinux.org/volunteer.html

This year's Ohio LinuxFest is shaping up to be the best one
ever, so be sure to register right away. We look forward to
seeing you in Columbus in September!

Best regards,

The Ohio LinuxFest organizers team@ohiolinux.org

PS. Please forward this announcement to your friends, co-workers,
and mail lists.

This is the message that caused the rest. As the error text implies, it can
be caused by someone stopping the SSL exchange before it was completed. If
you're seeing it multiple times in your logs it could mean any number of
things. A worm/exploit in the wild may not handle SSL well, a worm/exploit
in the wild may be trying to exploit mod_ssl, someones client doesn't play
nice with your SSL implementation, etc, etc. Possible reasons go on and on.

The message alone doesn't indicate a problem on your side. I wouldn't worry
about it unless you see other services also generating error.

[BLUG] has anybody seen this error before?

Know what this means? This appears many times in my Apache log files:

[BLUG] For Sale: Sun Blade 100

Sorry if I offend anyone by posting this here, but it is kinda Linux
related...

I am selling:

Sun Blade 100 w/
500-MHz UltraSPARC[tm]-IIe, 64-bit
128mb of RAM
10gb HD
48X CD-ROM
Sun PCi IIpro x86 Coprocessor card.

I bought this machine at an auction when I was in Texas, as I wanted to
run Linux/BSD on some non-X86/AMD64 hardware. The Sun PCi IIpro card is
a X86 card that you can use to run X86 software on the machine (Windows
or Linux from what I am told). The drive will be wiped clean, but you
can download Solaris from Sun's website (hobbiest license i believe) or
you can run a variety of Linux/BSD distros. This machine isn't the most
powerful workstation, but has been alot of fun to play with and get some
experience on non-x86/AMD64 hardware.

The condition of the machine is good, but there are marks with a grease
pencil from the auction and some minor scratches...i mean it is used, so
it is in used condition. You get the desktop, the monitor, and the
keyboard and mouse (as long as I can find them) for $70.00. This is
what I paid for it, minus the shipping of bringing it to Indiana via
Uhaul. The keyboard and mouse are USB. If you need, I have a PS/2 to
USB converter (so you can use PS/2 kb and mouse with it of a PS/2 KVM)
for an extra $5.

BTW: the reason I am selling it is due to getting married in 2 weeks and
just getting my HAM license. Easiest way to get some HAM gear is to
sell a computer or two.

If you have any questions, contact me off list.

Thank you,
Scott Blaydes
