Re: [BLUG] Is this thing on?

There are one or two people who have mentioned to me that they are disappointed by the relatively quiet status of BLUG, as they are interested in learning more.

I'm still here too, though this stuff goes to a folder outside my inbox and sometimes it takes me a bit to notice it. :)

So far, Norwood's Linux Text Editor (or, "Kate", as we call her at home) is doing well! She's taller and leggier than her momma, and doesn't quite have Xen's high-end speed on straightaways, but she jumps and collects better, so makes up time on the turns...

[BLUG] free: dec vt100

Hi all,

I'm moving out of Bloomington and have gotten tired of lugging around my
trusty DEC VT100 serial terminal. I'd love it if somebody wanted to give
it a good home.

If you don't know what that is, then:

1. Get off my lawn.

2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vt100

It's in good working order, and I have the original manual (which you
need to set the line discipline and other options, as you have to key
them in manually via binary toggles!). I'm happy to throw in some serial
cabling and null modems, too.

I used it for years as an emergency console for my headless Linux boxen.
It is also an exceptional conversation piece for your living room (for a
certain crowd, anyway).

Send me an email if you're interested and we can arrange transfer (I can
drop it off within Bloomington limits).

[BLUG] New mailing list address (#2)

Happy New Year BLUG community!

And to ring in the new year we have a new mailing list. To post, the
address is:

blug@lists.bloomingtonlinux.org

Hope thats acceptable to everyone. Remember that if you have rules
setup on your e-mail client that you'll want to adjust those. I tried to
keep the settings intact as much as I could, just had to change some
hosts and stuff.

The old list served us well for 13 years so let's hope that we'll keep
this one going for as long. Thank you staff of Indiana University for
maintaining it all this time.

Yeah, IU dropped LISTSERV in favor of Sympa within the past year or two. It is mostly branded as "IU List" in the KB docs, I think.

Actually, this list won't last long, I was working with Rob Henderson
last night and we're moving the list to
blug-list@lists.bloomingtonlinux.org, so it will stay mailman and the
list archives will stay around. You shouldn't need to do anything, I'll
let everyone know when its ready.

[BLUG] BLUG mailing list reborn

The Bloomington Linux Users Group mailing list was previously hosted on the CS Department mailman server. I'm afraid this mailman server is being taken out of service tomorrow so I've moved the BLUG list to the IU List system. All subscribers to the old list are still subscribed to the new list. Here are the coordinates:

* Mail to the list at blug-l@indiana.edu
* List Homepage: https://list.indiana.edu/sympa/info/blug-l
* General list information: https://list.indiana.edu/sympa/help/introduction

Anyone sending email to the old blug@cs address will get a bounce telling them the new address.

Let me know if you have questions/problems/complaints/etc.

Thanks,
