While not having looked at the wireless codebase in the kernel in many
years, I'm pretty sure it is driver dependent as I've seen no change in
the name (one wlan, one eth) on a computer that has used wireless since
the 2.4 kernel. My best guess is that *if* any naming is being
standardized in the kernel, it is exclusive to kernel-supplied drivers
and not 3rd party ones.
