[BLUG] Re: XKCD [was: Gas & the 15th]

XKCD is great. Just a few days ago they had a masterpiece of a map of
online communities:

http://www.xkcd.com/c256.html

Note its also the 2^8th comic too.

Re: [BLUG] IT Job Opening: City Systems & Applications Manager (fwd)

I know they have a bunch of in-house stuff they open sourced. Can't
remember what though.

What is this "City's FOSS distribution website" he speaks of?

-The Expatriate

Re: [BLUG] Bragging rights

Interesting read. It sounds so much like what happens in management
at a company. The whole part about Kurt leaving after the re-org is not
suprising, I once had a manager tell me that its common for that kind of
thing to happen right after a business re-org.

I think Gentoo will survive the storm. Its amazing how many
organizations can bleed nearly to death but keep walking and keep
fighting. Usually its because there is still so much demand from the
outside, which is still the case with Gentoo.

Here's an example of the drama going on between Gentoo dev's

http://kulleen.org/seemant/blog/2007/mar/06/a-parade-of-poisons/

At first glance it may not look like a big deal, but in reality there's a
bunch of developers who've been affected enough by the discussed issues to
leave the project. Some of those folks were key players in the project. If
ever you get board, take a look at how many people are actually working on
the project. There's a small handful of people doing the majority of
commits. The people talked about in that post are all developers of that
level of impact to the project. Seemant goes on to list others who's left
as well, you can follow his Gentoo site tag. There's been a few others as well.
