Kevin, don't feel too bad. Finding that a mail provider like Gmail is
sending legit mailing list confirmation e-mails to the spam folder is
equivilent to finding a bug, so kudos. It will help everyone.

Quite simply, I've typed in this here email address three different
times to that exact page and have yet to received the expected automated
go-here-to-confirm Mailman response. That was 5 days ago. I suppose
it's possible that I typoed it three times?

... Okay, you encouraged me to do some more digging. I /never/ check my
spam folder because Google relatively always gets it right. Sigh. I've
been bit: there were the confirmation emails.

What issues are you having joining the CINLUG lists? Our discussion
list (http://lists.cinlug.org/listinfo/cinlug) and announcement list
(http://lists.cinlug.org/listinfo/announce) are both open subscription.

Alas, I am not. Our house is ESE inside the US 52/40 beltline. Of
course, you got my hopes up when you mentioned fiber!

Thanks for the suggestion. A good option to at least be aware of for
the general area.

Cheers,

Re: [BLUG] new to area: suggestions for inet?

Hey Kevin,

Welcome to the 'area' and the List!

If you are in the green area on this map:

https://www.smithville.net/fiber/schedule

check out Smithville.

I pay $59 for the base fiber service and it rocks.  I do a lot of remote service work and can't believe how much easier it is since I started with them back in January.

Geographically limited option, but if it's possible...

Kelly

Subject: [BLUG] new to area: suggestions for inet?

Hullo List,

My wife and I are moving to the "area" this weekend, and we find
ourselves looking for internet options.  I quote 'area' because we'll
actually be living in Indy, but I can't seem to find a LUG there.
(CINLUG is presumably it, but so far my three attempts to join their
list have come up short.)

So, first off, "Hello, everyone!"

Second, can anyone offer internet provider suggestions?  Our needs are
modest (currently) as I mainly surf the web and ssh to servers around
the country.  My wife and I also partake in Netflix.  One thing we flat
will not do is a bundled service.  As a policy, we do not watch
commercial-laden TV channels, and have no need for land-line phone option.

We've been subsisting just fine on a 15 Mb/s (advertised, of course)
line, and currently paying $45/mo for the privilege.

AdvTHANKSance (thanks in advance!),

Kevin
