Adding the package is done through the package manager.

If you're not in the vboxuser group you'll have to add yourself (sudo
adduser yourusername vboxuser) where yourusername is your username.
You'll have to logout and log back in after adding yourself.

Have you installed the virtualbox-ose-modules-generic package?  If so,
is your user in the vboxusers group?

Have you installed the virtualbox-ose-modules-generic package? If so,
is your user in the vboxusers group?
