Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that the monthly BLUG meeting will be next Tuesday
August 14th at 7pm in meeting room 1C of the Monroe County Public
Library. I will be giving a talk about FlyBase
(http://www.flybase.org). This will be a technical talk with a little
bit of biology sprinkled in. Here is a brief summary of items I'll be
discussing:

* What is FlyBase and what purpose does it serve
* Overview of search and analysis tools we offer
* Load balancing HTTP traffic
* Using Sun Grid Engine for managing CPU intensive jobs
* mySQL servers in master/slave configuration for search services
* PostgreSQL for managing and storing genetic data
* How we use XSLT

Regards,
Josh
