Recently set up my 82 year old dad with an 700 MHz-PIII/384MB beater
running PCLinuxOS. He's doing well with it. This replaced an eight year
old 350Hz/64MB W98 box that was no fun for him to use any more, what
with all the necessary anti-virus and anti-spyware apps sucking up
resources, and the constant necessary Windows maintenance.

He took to Firefox, Thunderbird, and OO Writer with no difficulty, after
being accustomed to IE, OE, and Word Perfect. And the PCLOS
implementation of KDE is enough like Windows that he feels comfortable
when he ventures further.
